Lyle & Scott | Winter Sale 2018

In 2018 the United Nations announced that the year of 2019 will be marked as the year of the Periodic Table to celebrate it’s 150th anniversary – Ben Coppin decided that this would make a great idea for Lyle & Scott’s winter campaign, spreading over the Christmas Holiday right through to the end of January.

The idea associated with the Periodic Table was well received and was brought to life with the help of fellow designer and friend of Ben, Denzel Ossamor.

Once the idea had been finalised, Ben and Denzel set out to take a deeper dive in to the design element of how the periodic table visually translates – Using aspects such as the squared boxes with upper and lower case letters to get the brand campaigns message across. The idea was to also showcase the actual periodic table for a short amount of time, as quickly as possible which led to the decision of animating the graphic to appear as if it were drawing itself and really bringing it to life!

After reviewing the positive response of the campaign, the graphics were updated to also be showcased and used across all digital platforms aside from just desktop and mobile, such as emails and social media. The visuals had a slightly adapted design depending on the size of the display as well as an alternative green coloured option which was used in January to offer a new breath of fresh air in to the campaign, rather than remaining stagnant for a long period of time.
