Who is Ben Coppin?
Ben Coppin, sometimes known as ‘BENKSY’ by family, friends and colleagues is a designer and published illustrator with experience in 2D animation.
Coming from a working-class background, Ben grew up on the Pepys Estate in Deptford and has since always lived in the borough of Lewisham, South East London – Which is sometimes reflected within his work. Ben has always had a passion and drive for storytelling, taking inspiration from the likes of early 90’s/00’s Cartoon Network shows (Such as Ed, Edd and Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Dexter’s Laboratory and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends to name just a few) and the “Golden Era” of The Simpsons – This is especially apparent when you take a look in to Ben Coppin’s personal work due to his use of bright colour palette and BOLD black line-work on this weird and wacky character designs.
Ben has been fortunate enough to have been able to work and be commissioned by household names and clients such as British clothing brand Lyle & Scott, sneaker giant Foot Locker, French streetwear brand Lacoste and Royal historian and best-selling author, Robert Lacey – The historical consultant to The Crown on Netflix.
