Eagle Invaders
Taking it all the way back to 1978 – In 2018, Ben Coppin was commissioned by iconic British clothing brand Lyle & Scott to support their Black Friday and Cyber Monday SALE. Inspired by the classic video game, Space Invaders – The creative campaign was a success in ensuring that it was one of their largest creative campaign’s to date and one of the first times that the brand had utilised animation within their creative assets.

The aim of the campaign was to create a fun and snappy CTA to support Lyle & Scott’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday campaign (Their largest SALE aside from Christmas) It was easy to associate the iconic video game Space Invaders with Black Friday/Cyber Monday due to the “cyber” aspect and the promotional offers which are traditionally linked to technology. The feeling of nostalgia was captured perfectly, allowing customers to be entertained as well as shop and browse online, with small nods to brands rich heritage having been founded in 1874 – You can see the score in the left top hand corner of the animated video slightly jump up with each shot from the little cursor below, finishing on the year of which the brand was established. The pixelated iconic yellow eagles also complimented the campaign by adding some familiarity due to the recognisable logo, whilst offering the nostalgic feel associated with the classic video game – The creative campaign was brought to life with the help of fellow designer and friend of Ben, Denzel Osammor.
